Another amazing day… and night this time, spent in the company of wonderful people who share a Passion for Art…

Our digs for the night…

After randomly arriving at Solothurn and getting the map to our cabin we started putting pencil, pastel or brush to paper gazing out from our deck across the valley. It was beautiful, such a sense of space and openness, strong shadows described the landscape making forms easy to spot and paint. Eventually we were all there… so we did a recon back to the main house, checked out some more amazing subject material and another full on Art Session started there.

Valley Views…

A little later it was time to scrub up (a bit) and head into Maleny to Cappriccios Italian Restaurant where we had booked a table for dinner. The temptations from the menu, some wine and merriment (thankfully no song) the staff, the service, the ambience and the company combined to make it such a wonderful evening…much, much later we headed back to Solothurn, lit the fire, got in our Pj’s, poured a nightcap and chatted a while.

All tuckered out!

It wasn’t about sleeping…it was about a sleepover!

So…the next morning we are up and at it again, the light was so diffused and different today, yesterday it was clear and we could see right across to Witta, the lime greens of new growth and deep red shadows created by the warm bright sun had been replaced by soft edges, indistinct colours and no shadows….more challenges….

Pears n honey on toast…

Breakfast, although yummy and joyful, only diverted our attention for a short while and we decided to do another session before checkout. More enthusiastic Artists arrive and we moved to greener pastures…no, its all green, we just went back to the main buildings for rooms to move and choice of subjects.

Some of the gang went off to draw the Goats, Emu’s, Chooks, Turkey, even a pig, others checked out ducks, sheep and an alpaca, some focused on the amazing Chapel and others found a wonderful undercover outdoor barby area that suited perfectly.

It was cool and the occasional splutter of light rain accompanied us while we played with our passion, a short break for a cuppa and snack raced by before we were back into it…again, 1pm did come though and by then we were ready to go back to our real lives.

Some lovely little images are the result of these outings…perhaps one day we’ll have an exhibition?
